David Loftin, BA NREMT-P
Coordinator

David has been serving EMS since 1974.  He is a graduate of Coosa High School in Rome.  He attended EMT school at Coosa Valley Technical College and paramedic school at Dekalb Community College.  David also holds a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry and psychology from Berry College.

David serves as the coordinator of Region I EMS.  His job is to ensure proper delivery of pre-hospital services within the region.  Part of his duties are to inspect ambulances, ensure compliance with state rules and regulations, and to oversee all EMS activities within the region.  David is a nationally registered paramedic, but he has since retired from clinical practice.

 


 

David Foster, MLS, EMT-P
Training Officer

David has been involved with EMS since1976 and has a masters degree in organizational leadership.  His EMS career includes employment in fire and ems agencies in northwest Georgia area.  He was formerly employed as the DTAE Field Training Officer for North Georgia and the Training Officer for Region 4 EMS. He is an EMS instructor trainer and has been involved in many of the EMS Instructor courses in Georgia.

David currently serves as the Region I EMS training officer.  His job is to coordinate, teach, and monitor continuing education courses in Region I.  David has the authority to approve, reject, and to regulate all training courses within the region.  David  is actively involved in teaching throughout the tri-state area.

 


 

Monique Wheeler
Administrative Assistant

Monique comes to Region 1 EMS with over eight years employment in state government. She has been employed by the Public Health District Office in Rome which covers ten counties in northwest Georgia. She worked for two years as an administrative assistant and 6 years for the Human Resources department.

Monique currently serves as the Administrative Assistant.  Her job is to serve as the principal contact for the Office of EMS in Region 1, perform clerical duties and data entry. She is also involved in AED licensure for Region 1.

 

 

 

 


 

Jill Mabley, MD
Medical Director*

Dr. Mabley is an experienced emergency physician with many years of service in the Region I area.  She now serves as the full-time medical director of Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services in Canton, Georgia.  She earned her medical degree from Rush University College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.  She trained in internal medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, and is currently board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

The Region I EMS medical director "signs off" on the regional EMS protocols.  She advises the Region I EMS office and the EMS council on medical issues.  Her duties are also to coordinate the efforts of all EMS agency medical directors on issues related to the region.

 

 

 

 Russell McDaniel
EMS Council Chair*

Russell serves as chair of the Region 1 EMS council. His duties are to coordinate the EMS council meeting and maintain order during the meetings. Russell is a long-time Council member and works for Life Care Georgia Air Ambulance Service.                     

 


 

 

Randall Pierson

EMS Council Vice-Chair*

Randall serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Region 1 EMS Council. His duties are to replace the Chairman in his absence. He works for Floyd Medical Center EMS in Rome and is the 2010 Region 1 EMS Educator of the Year.

 

 


 

 

Eric Nix, MD NREMT-P
Webpage Designer*

Eric, a former Region I paramedic with Gordon Hospital EMS, has been involved with EMS since 1993.  He attended EMT school at Chattahoochee Technical College and paramedic school at Coosa Valley Technical College.  Eric holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in biology from Shorter College and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Mercer University. He completed residency at the Section of Emergency Medicine at Yale New Haven Medical Center in New Haven, Connecticut. He currently is an Emergency Department Physician at North Fulton and Kennestone Medical Centers in Atlanta.

 

Eric was the webpage designer for the Region I EMS website
